For this manufacturer of large water utility valves for hydroelectric dams, speed was critical. Their end customers are utility companies who cannot wait for delivery. Already stretched thin, they outsourced machining to make up time … and ended up stuck on another vendor’s slow schedule. They needed to take back control.
Big parts are best held by big fixturing. So to eliminate the need to send machining to an outside vendor, step one was to get this customer into a fixturing system properly sized for the massive valves they were manufacturing. This included a system of modular baseplates made to fit on top of their machine bed.
The solution was our one-of-a-kind 8024 system, specifically designed for large parts. The precision baseplate grid allows for repeatable accuracy, as well as quick set-up and changeover — without additional time needed to dial in parts. Modular versatility allows machining of multiple parts with one solution.
