Bluco opened it’s first headquarters in Carol Stream, Illinois. The 1.500 sq. ft. facility housed four employees and one rack of inventory. The first catalog listed 83 parts.
Back then, customers had a choice of three modular starter kits. The quality and versatility of Bluco products caused word to spread, but something was missing…
None of our founders were salesman. They were engineers & mathematicians — hard science guys. So they didn’t deliver the “sales pitch” customers were used to.
And that was the key to finding our niche.
Because customers needed more than a pitch for a workbench and some clamps. They needed solutions. And guidance on how to streamline processes, improve productivity, and solve larger manufacturing challenges.
Which is exactly what we’ve always been best at.
Once we discovered it was about more than just modular, we tuned our powers of innovation to support our customers’ needs in every way possible. We developed ways to make work easier, to make final workpieces better, and to make decisions more foolproof.
When Bluco began, all of our modular components were standard catalog items. But as we grew and worked with more companies on more varied applications, the need for custom parts for specialized uses became clear. Today, over half of the parts in every solution designed are custom made in our on-site manufacturing facility.
Bluco’s commitment to quality hasn’t changed since we opened for business over 30 years ago. But the way we achieve that quality evolves every day.
From product improvements to new industry collaborations and improved customer support initiatives, our to-do list will never be finished. And our drive to innovate will never end.
Our state-of-the-art facility was built in 2016. See our showroom, where you can see and interact with solutions for welding, machining, positioning and robotics. Or, visit our Validation Center once you’re ready to prove out a solution.
